Cyber crime class for kids

Pc Louise Stevenson and Pcso Robert Webb visited nine – 11-year-olds at Scargill Primary School as part of a campaign called Get Safe Online.

The youngsters were shown a short video about online safety, taught about cyber bullying and about keeping their personal details, photographs and profiles secure.

Teacher Andrew Attenborough said: “The officers reinforced safety messages that we try to instill in our pupils at this school and it was an excellent example of partnership working.”

Officers also visited Ilkeston Library and Tesco to share advice.

Chief Insp Dick Hargreaves said: “This initiative is crucial in respect of how the majority of society now operates with some form of daily internet use. Adults as well as children need to do everything they can to protect themselves from cyber crime, such as fraud, harassment and child exploitation.
