PMO site hacking: Brothers to be charged in court on Friday

PMO site hacking Brothers to be charged in court on Friday

Two Singaporeans, aged 21 and 27, are expected to be charged in court on Friday for offences under the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act.

The police, without naming the men, said in a statement on Thursday that the two suspects had been arrested in connection with a report lodged on Nov 8 by the web administrator of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) website.

The Straits Times had previously reported that the suspects who allegedly hacked into the PMO site were Mr Mohammad Asyiq Tahir and his elder brother, Mr Mohammad Azhar Tahir. This latest development comes after businessman Delson Moo and student Melvin Teo were charged in court last Friday in connection with the hacking of an Istana webpage, also on Nov 8.

None of these four men, however, are linked to James Raj Arokiasamy, whom court documents earlier identified as the alleged hacker who used “The Messiah” pseudonym. The 35-year-old accused of hacking the Ang Mo Kio Town Council website has been remanded for further investigations.
