Tech company plans to create new jobs in Fort Lauderdale

Data security firm Prolexic Technologies said Friday that it plans to create 118 jobs and retain 120 jobs in a new 35,000-square-foot space it’s leasing in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

The new jobs will have an average annual salary of about $100,000, the Sun Sentinelreports.

Network engineers, cyber-security specialists, and sales and marketing professionals will be hired, Michael Donner, spokesman for Prolexic, told the Sentinel.

Prolexic earlier this month was acquired by a Boston-based cloud computing company for $370 million cash.

Prolexic will move its Hollywood headquarters and security operations center into the New River Center office building located at 200 East Las Olas Blvd.

For its capital investment of $1.6 million and promised job creation, Prolexic could receive up to $1.59 million in state and local incentives, according to the Sentinel. The incentives include $125,000 from the governor’s Quick Action Closing Fund and $125,000 in cash from Fort Lauderdale.
